Its function is to atomise the fuel oil into a fine spray cone so that it mixes with combustion air and burns completely. The nozzle is connected to the oil pump via a high-pressure line; the pump solenoid valve controls fuel admission. In an oil burner system, the nozzle works together with the oil pump, solenoid valve, and often a preheater. The ignition electrode or UV/IR flame detector is positioned near the nozzle outlet to ignite and prove the flame.
