The Steinen 0.60GPH, 60S nozzle is a precision oil nozzle for pressure-jet burners. Parts of this type atomise the fuel oil into a fine spray cone, allowing complete combustion with the burner’s air stream. The nozzle is a consumable component that must be replaced at intervals specified by the burner manufacturer or when flame quality deteriorates. Oil nozzles are selected by three parameters: flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern. The flow rate is expressed in US gallons per hour (GPH) at a reference pressure (typically 7 bar / 100 psi). The spray angle (e.g. 30°, 45°, 60°, 80°) determines how widely the fuel cone spreads, and the pattern – hollow, solid, or semi-solid – defines the distribution of droplets within that cone. All three must match the burner data plate for the flame to sit correctly in the combustion head. A nozzle with the correct GPH but wrong pattern or angle can cause sooting, pulsation, ignition instability, or poor heat transfer. When replacing an oil nozzle of this type, always verify the existing nozzle’s markings and cross-check them against the burner manual. The thread size is standard for most domestic and light commercial burners, but confirmation of the nozzle’s physical dimensions (length, thread) is advisable. Because the nozzle is a wear item, install a new gasket or sealing washer if supplied, and do not overtighten. After replacement, check ignition and flame shape during start-up.
