Parts of this type manage the ignition sequence and enforce the safety times: pre‑purge, ignition, fuel admission, flame proving, and lockout if the flame is not confirmed within the allowed period. The control reads signals from the air pressure switch and the flame detector, and it drives the ignition transformer, the fuel valve, and the fan. In a typical boiler or burner system, such a control box sits between the thermostat or controller on one side and the actuators and sensors on the other.
