When replacing a UV flame simulator, confirm that the output characteristics and connection are compatible with the control model – a mismatch can cause the control to fail to detect the simulated flame or to lock out unexpectedly. Some simulators are designed for a single control series, while others are adjustable; the manufacturer’s documentation for the control will specify the correct simulator type. For safe use, the simulator should be removed and the actual UV detector reinstalled before the burner is returned to normal operation. Leaving a simulator in place would defeat the safety function of the flame detection circuit.
