An oil nozzle is a precision consumable that atomises fuel oil into a fine spray for complete combustion. It sits in the burner’s combustion head, downstream of the oil pump and solenoid valve; on cold-start systems a preheater may precede the nozzle. The nozzle’s flow rate, spray angle, and spray pattern together determine how the flame fills the combustion chamber. When selecting a replacement, all three parameters must match the burner data plate—a correct flow rate with the wrong pattern leads to sooting, pulsation, or unstable ignition. Nozzles are rated at a reference pressure (usually 7 bar or 100 psi); the actual flow varies with pressure, so the burner must be set to that pressure. Thread type (typically 1/8 in BSPT or NPT) must also match the adapter. This article is a Delavan oil nozzle.
