The regulator maintains constant pressure. The NC valve opens fuel supply to the nozzle, while the NO valve disables the regulator when activated. In two-pipe mode, excess fuel returns to the tank; in one-pipe mode, it goes to the bypass. When the burner stops, both valves close, stopping fuel flow. In two-pipe mode, no purge is required; in one-pipe mode, purging is done via the nozzle or pressure gauge ports.
