Brahma CM31 (art. 30021785 / 246.124.049) is a microprocessor controller (“burner management unit” or “burner control unit”) from the CM series, designed for complete, safe and economical control of gas burners in heating and heat generation systems. Purpose and applications Brahma CM31 is specifically designed for progressive (modulating) atmospheric gas burners. It is equally effective for burners with forced air supply (with a fan) as well as without, and is indispensable for automating a wide range of equipment: Heating systems: heating and combination boilers for private homes and industrial boiler houses. Climate control equipment: warm air generators, hot air guns, infrared heaters, radiant tube heaters. Water heating equipment: storage and instantaneous water heaters. Industrial installations: process furnaces, combi steamers, cookers, ovens and other gas-consuming equipment. Main functions and features Manual lockout reset: In any fault condition (no flame, ignition failure) the controller automatically locks out. Restart is only possible manually by pressing the Reset button on the housing after the cause has been eliminated. This eliminates the risk of unintentional burner start‑up and meets the highest safety class. Instant ionisation flame monitoring: Flame detection is based on the rectifying properties of the flame. Response time on flame loss is less than 1 second, guaranteeing instantaneous gas shut‑off in an emergency. Two independent safety contacts: In series on the gas valve output. This redundancy of critical circuits provides maximum safety. Built‑in powerful solid‑state ignition transformer: Provides a stable spark and reliable ignition on every cycle. Protection against external influences: A built‑in varistor protects against voltage surges, and a fuse protects against short circuits on outputs (valve, fan, lockout signal). A robust impact‑resistant housing made of non‑flammable plastic withstands mechanical damage. EMC filter: Suppresses electromagnetic interference, ensuring stable operation in industrial and domestic environments. Auxiliary contact for controlling ignition circuits or valves in systems with intermittent power supply. Microprocessor control: Ensures precise timing sequences and stable operation under all conditions. High reliability and service life: Rated for more than 250,000 switching cycles under maximum load. Compliance with international safety standards: EN298:2003 and EN298:1993 with classification code FMCLXN (according to EN298), CE certificate (PIN 0694BR1154). Technical specifications Parameter Value Model Brahma CM31 Article numbers 30021785, 246.124.049 Rated supply voltage 230 V AC, 50/60 Hz (110‑120 V version available) Power consumption 9 VA Burner type Atmospheric, progressive (modulating), gas Operating mode Intermittent (must be stopped at least once every 24 hours for self‑diagnosis) Pre‑purge time (tv/tp) 20 seconds Safety time (ts) 5 seconds Waiting time (tw) 20 seconds Flame control Ionisation electrode (rectification) Minimum ionisation current 1.2 µA (0.5 µA on request) Response time on flame loss 5 µA for reliable operation). Lockout reset: When a safety lockout occurs (controller stops starting the burner, red LED lit), find and eliminate the cause (e.g., check gas supply, electrode condition, etc.), then manually press the Reset button on the housing. Maintenance: Periodically check the condition of contacts, wiring integrity, and the cleanliness and position of the ionisation electrode. Operating mode: The unit is designed for intermittent operation. To maximise service life and safety, the system must be forced to stop at least once every 24 hours. Advantages over alternatives Highest safety level: Manual lockout reset, two independent safety contacts, instant flame monitoring ( 250,000 cycles and built‑in protection against voltage fluctuations. Economy and comfort: Progressive (modulating) power control optimises fuel consumption and reduces the number of burner starts/stops. Versatility: Compatible with a wide range of gas equipment from various manufacturers (with or without fan). Easy integration: Compact dimensions and standard connection simplify installation and replacement. Package contents Brahma CM31 burner control unit (art. 30021785) – 1 pc. Quick installation and operation guide. Note: The connection base, ionisation electrode, ignition electrode and other accessories are sold separately. Storage conditions and warranty Warranty period: Typically 6‑12 months from the date of sale (please check with the seller) provided that installation and operating rules are followed. Storage conditions: Store in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, at a temperature between –20 °C and +70 °C.
