Over time, the anode material is gradually consumed, and it must be checked at regular service intervals and replaced before the cylinder itself becomes vulnerable. Selection of replacement anodes is made by the cylinder model and the mounting position in the assembly — horizontal in this case — rather than by a technical rating alone. When replacing, it is essential to verify that the anode length and thread match the original fitting, and that the anode material (magnesium) is correct for the water chemistry.
