Common failure modes include erosion of the electrode tip, cracking of the ceramic insulator, soot deposits that bridge the gap, and a drift in gap distance that weakens ignition reliability. When replacing, it is essential to match the electrode geometry to the burner head and to set the correct gap according to the burner manufacturer’s specification.
