Brahma CM31 is a fully solid‑state microprocessor “burner management unit” designed for comprehensive automation, reliable control and maximum safety of atmospheric gas burners operating in intermittent (cyclic) mode. The Brahma CM31 “burner control unit” guarantees stable and long‑lasting operation of your heating equipment. The model index CM31 indicates it belongs to the CM series, intended for progressive (modulating) gas burners, often with forced air supply (a fan). Unlike models with electric reset (e.g., CE31), the key feature of the CM31 is a non‑volatile lockout with manual reset, requiring physical presence of the operator to restart the burner after a safety shutdown, which meets the highest safety class. Purpose and applications Brahma CM31 (30179535) is ideally suited for automating gas equipment where high reliability and safety are required. The Brahma CM31 burner control unit is used in a wide range of heat‑generating equipment, in particular for: Gas burners: Progressive (modulating) atmospheric burners with a fan in the combustion circuit and a sealed combustion chamber. Types of equipment: Gas heating and combination boilers, combi steamers, warm air generators, radiant tube heaters, water heaters, infrared heaters. Operating mode: Intermittent cycle (must be stopped at least once every 24 hours), with automatic restart for self‑check. Main functions and features Non‑volatile lockout with manual reset (Manual Reset): The main feature of this model. In any abnormal condition (e.g., if there is no flame after the safety time TS has elapsed) the controller goes into safety lockout. Restart is only possible manually by pressing the Reset button on the housing after the cause of the fault has been eliminated. This eliminates the risk of unintentional burner start‑up and meets the highest safety class. Instant ionisation flame monitoring: A reliable method of flame detection based on the rectifying properties of the flame. Response time on flame loss is less than 1 second, guaranteeing instantaneous gas shut‑off to prevent hazardous situations. Two independent safety contacts: A critically important safety feature. The gas valve output is equipped with two independent contacts connected in series. This redundancy ensures backup and eliminates the possibility of gas leakage if one of the contacts fails. Built‑in high‑voltage ignition transformer: Provides reliable ignition of the fuel‑air mixture without the need to purchase and install a separate ignition unit. Auxiliary contact: Designed for systems with intermittent power supply, for example low‑power ignition or control of the main gas valve. Important: This contact is not isolated by reinforced insulation and is not suitable for controlling extra‑low voltage (SELV) circuits. High reliability and protection: The service life of electronic components is more than 250,000 operations. Built‑in varistor and fuse protect the device against voltage surges and short circuits on outputs (valves, fan, lockout signal). Impact‑resistant housing made of self‑extinguishing plastic effectively protects the internal electronics from dust, dirt and mechanical damage. Microprocessor control and self‑diagnosis: Each time the controller is switched on, it performs a self‑check of its key components (flame signal amplifier, relays, etc.), guaranteeing readiness for operation. Compliance with international standards: Fully complies with European safety standards for burner control systems: EN298:1993 EN298:2003 CE certificate (PIN 0694BR1154) in accordance with Gas Appliance Directives 90/396 and 93/68. Technical specifications Parameter Value Model Brahma CM31 Article numbers 30179535 / 246.124.055 Rated supply voltage 230 V AC, 50/60 Hz (110‑120 V version available on request) Power consumption 2.5 VA / 7 VA Burner type Atmospheric, progressive (modulating), gas Operating mode Intermittent (must be stopped at least once every 24 hours for self‑diagnosis) Pre‑purge time (tv/tp / TW) 1.5 seconds Safety time (ts / TS) 10 seconds Waiting time (tw) 1.5 seconds Response time on flame loss 5 µA for reliable operation). Lockout reset: When a safety lockout occurs (controller stops starting the burner, red LED lit), find and eliminate the cause (e.g., check gas supply, electrode condition, etc.), then manually press the Reset button on the housing. Maintenance: Periodically check the condition of contacts, wiring integrity, and the cleanliness and position of the ionisation electrode. Contamination or wear of the flame sensor can lead to false trips. Package contents Brahma CM31 burner control unit (30179535) – 1 pc. Quick installation and operation guide. Note: The connection base, ionisation electrode and ignition electrode are sold separately. Storage conditions and warranty Warranty period: Typically 6‑12 months from the date of sale (please check with the seller) provided that installation and operating rules are followed. Storage conditions: Store in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, at a temperature between –20 °C and +70 °C.
